Of course, you may be wondering what type of feeder you need. Well, the feeder that you need is going to depend on the birds you plan on attracting to your yard. Here is a look at some types of birds and the feeders that they will enjoy.
Doves – If you want to attract doves, you’ll need ground feeders, since they only feed from the ground.
Chickadees – Suet is their seed of preference but they will eat from raised, hanging, and ground bird feeders.
Mockingbirds – They only eat seed from feeders that are raised.
Blue Jays – These birds like feeders that are raised on poles. When you keep bird feeders on metal poles, it keeps visitors that are unwanted, such as squirrels, away from the feeders.
Woodpeckers – Usually the woodpeckers will eat from raised feeders, hanging feeders, and the ground feeders.
Finches – Both hanging bird feeders and raised ones are fine for the finches.
Cardinals – These beautiful birds usually like to eat feed out of the raise or hanging bird feeders.
Juncos – Both raised and ground feeders are fine for these birds.
Wrens – Only the raised feeders will attract wrens to your yard.
Sparrows – For the sparrows, ground feeders and raised feeders both will work.
Yellow Bellied Sapsuckers – These birds will eat suet out of the hanging feeders and they also eat from raised and ground feeders too.
